Dear collegue, Team member, visitor,
I am thrilled to announce our annual BOTA congress, 'On Call & In Control', to you. It will take place at the Old Prison in Hasselt on 28 November 2026.
This event is a collaboration not only with various societies within our national orthopaedic community, but also with international orthopaedic trauma societies and organisations.
A key focus of the event is showcasing the complex and rapidly evolving nature of acute orthopaedic trauma care, bringing together orthopaedic surgeons from all subspecialties.
There will be eight sessions in total, with over twenty national and international speakers discussing the latest improvements in orthopaedic trauma care.
We invite you to join the discussion after the sessions and share valuable experiences and thoughts with everyone!
The target audience is, of course, the orthopaedic ( trauma) surgeon, but please feel free to bring your team, such as physiotherapists and operating room nurses, as we all work as a team for the benefit of our patient.
To conclude the day, we can have a drink at Hasselt's Christmas market, just 300 metres away, with your colleagues or team members.

Polytrauma patient pathway: ethics and financing in Belgian trauma care
This interactive session follows the real-life journey of a polytrauma patient, who will be invited to contribute to the discussion. Using this patient-centred approach, the panel will explore each phase of care—from prehospital management to rehabilitation—through both an ethical and an economic/organizational lens.
A multidisciplinary faculty will address key decision points, highlighting current challenges in Belgian trauma care organisation and financing, and discussing the expected impact of ongoing reforms.
